Tin Corner Farm reaches back in time to get its name. In 1762, Tilton was known as Sanbornton Bridge or Bridge Village. The first settlement was founded at Tin Corner in 1764-1765 near what is today's New Hampshire Veterans Home. Tin Corner Farm is about a mile from that location.
This compact 11+ acre horse farm is looking for an owner that loves horses and loves antique homes. Tin Corner, through a succession of owners operating under several names over a thirty year period, has been the “local” horse farm where many area residents began their riding experiences.
The big, five bedroom Georgian colonial with its room-spanning arches, window seats and cubbies, is the centerpiece of the property. It is rumored to have been a stage coach stop at one time for runs between Concord and Sanbornton. Stepping into the dining room you can envision a lively group of travelers taking supper before the big fieldstone fireplace. The lovely arches between the rooms add openness and flow and again you can imagine groups of people gathering by one of the three fireplaces to talk before retiring upstairs to one of five large and airy bedrooms. Two arches, one on either side of the staircase leading upstairs, have been enclosed but could be exposed again. The kitchen is modern with maple cabinets, granite countertops and a great breakfast bar/island but old colonial details are intact everywhere around the house at Tin Corner. Anyone who loves antique homes will love this house! Have fun browsing the many area shops to fill this home with period furniture to showcase its many original features.
The land is mostly open and level so the turnout areas can easily be expanded. Two run-in sheds provide respite from the weather. The outdoor ring is 80’ x 150’ with a sand/stone dust footing. Lights are at ringside. There is also a viewing deck and the annual “fun show”, by invitation only, for local junior riders brings in lots of enthusiastic rider related spectators.
Tin Corner is a quaint and compact horse farm with a laid back atmosphere that would work well for the horse owner who has several horses or someone who wants to teach, train and/or take in boarders. The barn has everything the serious horse owner needs to start up or expand the horse business.
The location is ideal for the commuter in the house, as it is just about 20 minutes to I-93 and Concord or Manchester. Bring ideas, add your personal touches and make this farm your new home!
