Tammy's Story

Tammy has been with Farms & Barns Real Estate since 2006. She came from a large real estate company and knew immediately that the Farms & Barns niche was a better fit for her. She strived to market herself as a person specializing in farm and horse properties so when Shirley approached her to join the Farms & Barns team it was an easy decision. Now, almost sixteen years later, Tammy couldn’t be happier with her real estate career. Coming from an education background with a master’s degree in Elementary Education and thirteen years teaching, her previous career has helped her to be able to teach adults about the process of buying and selling real estate. Tammy has had much success with Farms & Barns Real Estate, LLC, and has been a top producing agent fourteen out of the past sixteen years. She works to simplify the process for her clients with her ability to listen, knowledge of the farm and horse market, and history closing many transactions. The specialized properties that we sell require knowledge beyond “regular” real estate. Tammy not only brings the necessary real estate knowledge but has been hooked on horses since a very young age. She started owning an uncooperative Shetland pony, Sugar, who taught her many things mostly humility. As her skills improved, she moved on to a dappled gray Connemara Pony, Grey Mist, showing in the pony hunter divisions all over Massachusetts. She was lucky to have a trainer who had many off-the-track Thoroughbred’s to ride giving her many countless hours in the saddle re-schooling these beautiful horses to prepare them for their next adventure. Tammy’s next adventure brought her to the Morgan world where began riding saddleseat on her Courage of Equinox mare, Miscoe Mussette, showing the local New England & Morgan Horse circuit. While in college at UMASS Dartmouth, she was named captain of the equestrian team. She was lucky to ride with some top-notch instructors who were able to bring her up the ranks from Novice, Intermediate to an Open rider her senior year, each year she competed in the Regional and Zone Championships. Currently, Tammy owns an Irish Sport Horse, named Tucker. In the barnyard there is also a sassy mini named Penelope, who keeps him company. Tucker has not been in the show ring for some time now but has enjoyed fox hunting and is currently living a rather life of luxury in the backyard of the farm. After not showing for almost 30 years and it has been an exciting new adventure. Tammy has returned to the saddleseat arena and is currently leasing a Friesian gelding and working with a trainer again. As a recently minted empty nester, her new equine partner has given her something to do when she is not driving around the state looking at farms. She feels very lucky to have this opportunity again in her life and is enjoying every minute of it. Tammy owns a small hobby farm in central NH with her husband, sons, horses, chickens, cats, her very attentive rescue Carolina Dog, Gabby, and her two other Carolina dogs, Piper & Boaty McBoatface. On the farm, wherever Tammy is, Gabby is only a few steps away with “the littles”, Piper & Boaty, hounding Gabby the entire way. With Tammy’s experience in real estate and her knowledge of what horse & farm people like and need, she can help you find the next agricultural property of your dreams. She can also help you sell your current farm thorough understanding of the important features to point out to potential buyers, showing them the value of the farm features. Tammy understands how her clients live and what they want as she shares the same lifestyle and has a variety experience with different disciplines.
